Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork, chicken, or turkey
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (optional if using lean meat)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated or minced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 2 medium carrots, julienned or grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste or sriracha (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Meat

  1. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground pork (or your preferred protein) and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and fully cooked.
  3. Drain any excess fat, if needed, and set the cooked meat aside.

Step 2: Sauté Aromatics

  1. In the same skillet, add the vegetable oil (if necessary), followed by the garlic, ginger, and onion.
  2. Sauté for 2–3 minutes, or until fragrant and the onion begins to soften.

Step 3: Add the Vegetables

  1. Stir in the shredded cabbage and carrots.
  2. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are tender but still have a slight crunch.

Step 4: Combine and Season
