Prepare the area: Before you begin, cover an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it. This will make taking out your fudge pieces very easy.
To start, mix 2 cups of sugar with 4 tablespoons of Hershey’s cocoa in a large saucepan. Mix them well together.
Buttery Delight: Mix a stick of salted butter and 5 ounces of Carnation Evaporated Milk with your sugar and cocoa mix. This is where amazing things occur!
Mix it well: Cook on medium heat and keep stirring. Heat the mixture until it boils strongly, then let it boil for 3-4 minutes. You should aim for a soft ball texture. One way to check this is by putting a small bit of the mix in cold water. If it becomes a soft ball, it is done.
Vanilla Flavoring: After removing from heat, mix in one teaspoon of vanilla. This will make your fudge even more delicious!
If you like nuts, add them to your mixture now. They provide a nice crispy texture that contrasts with the smoothness of the fudge.
Set it and forget about it: Pour the mixture into the pan and use a spatula to smooth the top. Allow it to cool for a few hours. For the most effective outcome, avoid trying it and leave it to rest overnight.
The final step: When the fudge is completely set, remove it using the parchment paper and place it on a cutting board. Cut it into squares with a sharp knife and enjoy the results of your hard work!
