Using Baking Soda to Control Pests

Have you ever thought about using baking soda to help keep pests away from your kitchen? That small box of baking soda does more than just make cakes fluffy and clean the house. It also works well to control pests. If you have problems with fleas, mice, or ants, baking soda could help you.

1. Fleas: Fleas can be a bother, especially if you have pets at home. To get rid of fleas using baking soda, combine it with salt in the same amount and spread the mixture on your carpets and pet bedding. The mix makes the fleas' bodies dry up, causing them to die. Clean the area well a few hours later to remove all the fleas and their eggs.

Mice and rats really don't like the smell and taste of baking soda. Put baking soda in places where you think mice and rats go often, or mix it with a little sugar to lure them to the bait. When bugs eat it, baking soda reacts with their stomach acid, causing problems inside their bodies.
