- Internet folklore: Heartwarming or mysterious quotes are often falsely attributed to historical figures like Nostradamus, Einstein, or Leonardo da Vinci to lend them authority.
- Cats = mystique: Because cats have long been associated with intuition, protection, and spiritual energy (especially in ancient Egypt or European folklore), modern storytellers retroactively link them to prophetic figures.
Nostradamus (1503–1566), a French physician and astrologer, wrote his famous prophecies in cryptic four-line poems called quatrains, primarily focused on wars, plagues, natural disasters, and political upheavals. Nowhere in his published works—most notably Les Prophéties—does he mention domestic cats or make claims about the fate of cat owners.
