Southern Tea Cake Cookies

Once the dough is well combined, turn off the mixer, take the dough out of the mixer, put it in a Ziploc bag, and refrigerate for at least an hour to solidify the dough.
After the dough solidifies, take it out of the refrigerator and prepare your oven to 325 degrees.
Use parchment paper to line your cookie sheet.
Using a measuring tablespoon, measure out a tablespoon-sized portion of cookie dough and shape it into a ball. Press the center lightly with your thumb to make it a little flatter and set it on the tray.
Repeat with the remaining dough, being sure to leave a minimum of 1 1/2 inches between each ball of dough.
After baking for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the sides are golden brown, take them out of the oven.
After 5–10 minutes of cooling, serve.
Remarks
Don't forget to check if the components are at room temperature. They will mix in much more easily and produce a delicious, well-blended dough.

Your Southern Tea Cakes can remain fresh for up to a week if you store them at room temperature in an airtight container. This will ensure that they taste just as good as the day they were prepared.

The tea cakes may also be frozen to extend their delicious texture; just make sure they're well-wrapped and they can last up to three months in the freezer.
